Terrible am I, child?

There is a rather popular saying of don't judge a book by it's cover. This saying is true in many ways: not judging a person or thing by the outer appearance, but instead what is inside. This saying holds true for this particular male himself, Kebai. As much as he tries to come off as the ever cheerful and easygoing self, there is many horrid pages within that book that he calls his soul. Being the optimistic type, he trudges forward with his head held high, telling all those around him that they too should keep there heads up, for there is no hope upon the ground. No matter how cheerful he is, the extreme easygoing part gets the best of him - Kebai is completely lazy. Perhaps he is the laziest person Escaband has ever laid their eyes upon! No matter, he can make up for this flaw! Even if he is the laziest person in all of the land, he is also one of the most well known blacksmiths within the land as well.

Blacksmithing became a way of life ever since he was in his early twenties. After serving in the army beneath the flag of Ganbantein, he decided enough was enough. He had met a woman that completely stole his heart and would do anything for. After chasing her around endlessly to atleast get her attention, he had finally won it over. Not long a child was coming within the picture of the newly forming family. Kebai could not be happier and it showed within his work. Each piece was perfect, excelling in both sharpness and durability. Quickly did he rise, gaining more and more business to support both himself and his family. It seemed as if anything could not go better, everything was too good - too good.

Sadly, tragedy struck and took the life of his wife from a form of illness. She was about to give birth to their child and out of desperation, doctors tried to save the child though the mother had already been taken from the world. Unfortunately, this did not work as well, as the child never got to take it's first gasp of fresh air. Happiness had been stripped away from Kebai in the most unfair of ways, leaving him completely alone when all was beginning to look up for him. Filled with nothing but grief, the blacksmith disappeared from society. Rumors went around, claiming that he had committed suicide from a broken heart. Perhaps this is true as Kebai says he had died once before. Perhaps this was his death.

Years passed and the blacksmith began moving place to place, traveling around the countryside of Solstice and looking for a reason to die a death that would leave him honorable; one that could get him back with his wife and child. His searching came to an end when he had witnessed a band of dragon's attacking a city known as Indageos. Following the band from behind after their attack, he had managed to come across a small and injured child - a little girl by the name of Rielo. At first he was not sure if he should take her, believing he had no right to care for a child since he had lost his own. His heart was too big to leave her there alone, almost dead from what had happened. Again did grief strike him as he could not imagine the scenes she had watched from what had just happened. It was then that Kebai took her in, adopting her as his own daughter.

The years he spent with the girl were the best he had. He had picked up the craft of being a blacksmith again, working hard in order to give her a life that had been taking from the both of them. Her smile was enough to make him feel alive and needed, to give him that happiness that was stripped from him completely. Again was he growing a light in him, one that would never dim as long as she stayed by his side. He had even taken her beneath his wing, teaching her basic swordsmanship. However, it seemed as if the girl had an affinity for magic as well, something he really doesn't have. This did not stop him from teaching her, as he continued to make her as strong and lively as he possibly could. Finally, Kebai had found his happiness.

Now, the man can be found traveling - even still - around the areas of Escaband, crafting weapons and the like for those who are in need. He is also a rather big critic on these weapons, suggesting to their wielders ways that they could improve them. Overall he is a happy man, though the pain of sorrow corrupts his heart from time to time. He believes he has been found, but Kebai is just one of the many other lost souls in the world of Escaband.

Tidbits

Kebai is extremely lazy and he likes to hum a lot.

Kebai is voiced by Liam O'Brien.

Kebai doesn't like talking about his age.

Kebai is a samurai, obviously. This means he holds the beliefs that even the old-age samurais have. Trying to break him of it will leave him insulted and possibly even hate you.

Kebai does not like hating people, but he can be very judgmental, especially when someone does not take proper care of their weapons.

Kebai does not care for wars or violence, though he will not hesitate to use violence when Rielo is in danger. He comes off as a father that is way too proud (think of Hughes).

Kebai really likes sweets and tomato flavored foods. Pasta is also a favorite and will even cause him to scream for it when he wants it.

Kebai is heterosexual, though he shows no real interest to anyone. He is too lazy to. Even if someone were to catch his interest, he would still be too lazy to act upon it. This means it is up to the person to make a move, though making too much of a move will annoy him.
